Subheads.
I strongly recommend using them — especially in your in fundraising writing.
Here’s why 👇
Subheads help your readers scan and understand your message quickly.
And believe me, your readers are scanning.
They’re not poring over every word.
(Sorry. I know you work hard on every word.)
But your readers are busy. Their attention spans are shrinking.
Huge walls of text are barriers to busy readers.
Subheads, and the white space they create, are like windows. They let light in through the solid walls. They give your reader a quick glimpse of what’s inside.
And if your reader sees something she likes through the window…
There’s a better chance she’ll open the door.
